Do the rules matter? Notice in this passage that whether or not you obey the laws, Paul says something else is more important. The thing that matters is faith working through love. Some say faith alone. But faith that doesn't work, isn't faith. See James 2:17. Today wherever you are, as a stay at home parent, or a retired person, or as someone who works for a living, how can your faith show up? What can you do?
We talk at Follower of One about 5 simple daily activities. #1 is Pray. We can pray to remind ourselves that we work for God. Let's punch in today, tell God we're available and do what he tells us to do. #2 is Appreciate Others. This is love. We work for the best in others. Ask God to give you the name of one person you can do something nice for. Listen for 2 things: the name of the person and the idea of what action you can take. Then, when you get an answer, and I know you will, act. Don't put it off. Don't wait until the time is right. Just act. Trust God. Bend your schedule. Inconvenience yourself. Get out on God's limb and watch him work. He will use you to make a difference in the life of another human.
Notice that you will receive a new feeling once you complete the idea given to you during that prayer. You will experience God's joy. This joy cannot be replaced. We do the cheap substitutes all the time, but the joy of doing what God told you to do is irreplaceable. When you experience it, take a moment and enjoy it. Then, do it again.
