Truth is under attack in our world. But if we want to pursue truth, we must chase it all the way. In the armor analogy, truth is what holds everything together. The belt of truth held the other items of the armor. Truth was under it all.

Mike said the first truth he needed to remember is who our enemy is and who it is not. Our enemy isn't our boss or the people who disagree with us or a difficult customer. It's not a problem employee, or our wayward child or our parents. God's not our enemy either. Our enemy is powerful, and able to use others to tempt me to forget God.

God's not our enemy either. We broke the world, not him. God does intervene, but he doesn't intervene all the time. So don't blame him because he didn't give you the job (or spouse, or parents, or income, or career, or whatever) of your dreams.

But the second main truth is God is almighty, supreme, pre-eminent. Even though we have a powerful enemy, we're on the winning team. God is for us and there's nothing he can't do. We can trust him in every temptation to provide a way of escape. (Yes, we mix metaphors, a bit. We are standing firm, but there are times when we must flee certain temptations.) We can't convince people to follow Jesus. He does that. Jesus is working in the life of every person we meet. We simply need to ask him for direction and do what he says. We man our territory by refusing to listen to any voice that doesn't line up with truth, and the scripture, including our own.

Remind yourself truth about God today. Lean into him. True truth is our friend when we follow Jesus. All will be made right, some now and some much later. Today with the Holy Spirit living in us, we can do the things God calls us to do. Let's follow him today and watch him work.
