Do we trust God? Let's talk about that today.

Hey, I'm Mike Henry Sr. with Follower of One. Welcome back to the Follower of One Podcast. Thanks for joining us again today.

Yesterday I spoke about Exodus 14:14. And today I want to talk about verse 15 because I see these places in scripture where God always prompts us to trust Him first.

Almost all the miracles that I see anymore, when I noticed them in scripture, God is asking us to do something first. So the Egyptians are bearing down on the Jews and the Jews have the Red Sea in front of them. And they're whining to Moses. And Moses basically told them in verse 14, the Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.

Verse 15 says, "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Why are you crying out to me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward.'"

I think it's interesting because it's like God saying, "What are you whining to me about? Get moving. Start walking, like the sea is not there. Start walking like you trust Me."

The Lord goes on in the next verse to tell Moses what Moses is supposed to do. And then in the next verse, after that, He explains what He's going to do, but He says, "I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them." He doesn't talk about even parting the sea yet. He hasn't done that yet, but He tells the people to start moving forward. They have to move forward before the sea parts.

Did you listen to Jesus yesterday? Did you spend some time after yesterday's episode being silent? I want to encourage you again today. Spend some time being silent before God. And then ask yourself is God calling you to move forward in something, where the evidence doesn't exist? The evidence for moving forward may not exist for you.

He may be calling us to go forward in a particular endeavor, and there's no proof that the lights will be green. There's no proof that things will work out the way we want them to work. And yet Jesus is saying to us today, why are you crying out to me? Move forward. Go forward.

I want to go forward in my life. I want to live like Jesus is who He says He is. And every now and again, I'm going to crash. I'll make a mistake. I'll walk into the water.  Forty years later, when they go across the Jordan river into the promised land, they have to step into the water before it parts. And that's in Joshua chapter three. We find out that the priests have to get their feet in the water before the water parts, but then they're standing on dry ground. The same thing happens at the Red Sea. They have to start moving to the water and then God parts the sea and they go across on dry land.

It's a huge miracle but it all begins with them moving forward. It begins with the fear that exists because Pharaoh and all of the Egyptian army is bearing down on them. What are you into today?  What do we do in our workplace where we can step out in trusting God?

That's my word for 2022. I think I've said it before. My word is to trust. I want to trust God more. And so in my silence today, and in my quiet today, I'm asking God, show me what you want me to move forward on. What do I do? We move forward in Follower of One. And we ask the people who benefit from Follower of One to consider making a contribution so that other people can try being a marketplace minister themselves.

Maybe today, God wants you to make a contribution to a ministry of some kind. You can make it to Follower of One on our homepage, or you can make it to any ministry. Maybe God wants you to give something away today and trust Him like you're walking toward the Red Sea. Let's ask him what he wants us to do, and then do it.

Thank you for being a marketplace minister. And thank you for making a difference with your faith. What we do because we trust Jesus matters. Thanks very much.
