Sometimes we just need to be silent. Let's talk about that today.
Hi, I'm Mike Henry with Follower of One. Welcome back to the Follower of One Podcast. And thanks for listening. Today, I want to talk about Exodus 14:14. So that's Exodus 14:14. "The Lord will fight for you and you have only to be silent."
What's happening is the Jews are leaving Egypt and the Lord actually hardens Pharaoh's heart and he changes his mind and decides that he's going to go after the Jews and bring them back to Egypt because they were the slave labor. And so Pharaoh and all of his army, it says 600 of his best chariots and all of his army go after the Jews.
And the people start whining to Moses about all of this. And they're scared. In verse 11, they say, is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you've taken us away to die in the wilderness? And Moses tells the people fear, not in verse 13. And then in verse 14, Moses says, "The Lord will fight for you and you have only to be silent."
Sometimes we have only to be silent. Today I want to take time to be silent before God. I'm confident that I listen to Him less than I should. And often I need to just take some time and try and shut off my mind and shut off the things that are going on around me and be silent and listen to God and do what he says.
"The Lord will fight for you and you have only to be silent." What about you? Do you get silent before God? Do you let the Lord fight for you? Or are you like me where you step in all the time and take action and do something before you've given Jesus an opportunity to make a difference? The Lord will fight for us and we have only to be silent.
Today, I'd like to challenge you. Take a few moments and ask God to talk to you. Ask Him to speak to you and then try and focus your brain on listening to Him. Listen to what He says, listen to what He wants you to do. Listen for Him to give you direction instead of your to-do list or your friends on Facebook or, everything that's going on in your life.
If you're like me, I have so many things bearing down on me. I'm into so many things that are often don't get silent. But today I want to spend a little time being silent before God. In fact, I will finish this podcast and be silent again before Him for a few minutes, because I want to hear His voice and I want to do what He says.
In our workplaces today, we can listen to Jesus and do what He says. Let's listen to Him. Take a few moments and be silent.
Thanks for being a marketplace minister. And thank you for making a difference in your workplace. What you do matters because you follow Jesus.
If we do something because we follow Jesus, let's ask Him to use that for his glory. He will become known by the way that we live-- if we live according to our faith in Him. Thank you for being a marketplace minister.
